I’d be okay with the dying Schoolhouse Rock Vote with Bill T-shirt of illness if I couldn’t afford treatment. It takes collective labor, time, and money of thousands of doctors to create, test, and replicate their product. I’m not entitled to it. I’m Canadian, we have socialized healthcare. We spend less on healthcare per capita right now than the US does, and every citizen here is taken care of. We even provide free emergency medical care for visitors. Isn’t taking more money from citizens (for services that aren’t even provided to everyone). More morally reprehensible than taking less (for services that are available to everyone)?

I’d also like to point out that Schoolhouse Rock Vote with Bill T-shirt countries are communities. And people are free to leave and join another “community” that will take them. If they don’t like the way things are done in theirs. That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t try to change things in their own countries. Just that there’s always another option if you really hate the way they do things in your country. For many people, moving to another country is outside the realm of possibility. I think it’s incredibly classist and nihilistic to say that people should just move whenever their government does something they don’t agree with.
